Our plan
Our idea is to combat the high school dropout crisis by going into schools across America, using pop culture, music and media, to inspire, and empower students to overcome adversity, and graduate. We have planned a 20-city tour called, “The All Things Are Possible (ATAP) High School and College Tour”. We believe that the spirit the country is in right now this is the right message for this time. This monumental and innovative campaign will bring together three things that youth need: 1) positive new age role models who care about them and are dedicated to their success, and 2) tangible and usable information that motivates them in a way they can easily grasp and understand, 3) tried and proven tools to overcome adversity.
What we did
We created a calendar of the ideal time line and route for the tour. We reached out to schools across the country through teacher and principle networks and education conferences. Through keynotes and breakout workshops, we shared our mission and offered to come their school during a specific time that we were going in their cities. . Schools that wanted us to come to their institutions during the time allotted for that city were confirmed. We then worked with the schools administration to work out the logistics and design of the actual event. Funding We did raise money through grassroots methods; fundraisers in schools, churches and homes. As former school teachers, Soul Gen staff also showed schools how they can use Title 1 funding to pay for this type of the educational program. We have created proposals for corporations and are still in pursuit of a sponsor. We are confident that through nationally covered press and word of mouth a corporate sponsor will come along.
Our results
Students and teachers in schools from the inner city to rural areas are inspired and motivated. According to the project evaluations we did with the schools administration, we have met our project goals, at the schools we have visited thus far and we look forward to many more years to come.
